Expanded Environmental Monitoring and Long-term Health Risk Assessment Program

May Update

Talison Lithium continues to progress its expanded environmental monitoring program to support a long term health risk assessment for the Greenbushes community.

As our operations grow, so does our responsibility to understand our potential impacts, listen to community feedback, and be open and transparent about the steps being taken. This program is a key part of Talison’s commitment to being a better neighbour and building trust with the local community.

The program includes an expanded air monitoring network and the collection and analysis of water, soil and produce samples from properties within a 10 km radius of the Greenbushes Lithium Operation.

Progress to Date

Since the program was announced in October 2025, the following activities have been completed:

  • A community drop in session was held at the Greenbushes RSL following the October 2025 announcement, providing an opportunity for interested community members to discuss the program, alongside ongoing engagement through Grow Greenbushes and the Stakeholder Reference Committee.

  • Residents, businesses and community groups within 10 km were invited to participate in the community environmental sampling program

  • Community environmental sampling has been completed at 67 locations across the study area

  • The expanded air monitoring network has been installed and commissioned

  • External technical experts are supporting sampling, laboratory analysis and data interpretation

  • Laboratory analysis and quality assurance of samples are now well progressed

Individual Results and Program Data

Community participants are receiving individual results for environmental samples taken from their property, such as water, soil and produce. These results provide information specific to each location and are shared directly with participants to help them understand findings relevant to their property.

The individual results provided to participants represent one part of the broader program of data collection. Alongside community environmental sampling, ongoing air monitoring is being undertaken across the study area. All data will be considered together to inform the Long-term Health Risk Assessment, which assesses potential exposure pathways and overall risk at a community level.

Providing individual results does not indicate the completion of the assessment or conclusions about health risk. The assessment will be developed once all relevant data has been collected, validated and assessed as a whole, with completion anticipated toward the end of 2026.

Results Delivery

Due to the large number of samples collected, laboratory analysis has taken longer than originally anticipated. To support timely delivery and ensure participants are appropriately supported, individual results are being delivered in two batches (first received in May, the second will be early June) as laboratory analysis is completed.

The timing of delivery does not indicate any issue or difference in the nature of results. All samples are reviewed using the same processes and standards, and the staged delivery reflects the volume of samples processed.

Participant DropIn Sessions

Community drop‑in sessions are being held alongside the delivery of individual results to support participants in understanding their findings. Details are shared directly with participants closer to the time of each session. This approach helps ensure participants receive clear and accessible information and appropriate support at the time they receive their individual results.

Ongoing Commitment

Talison remains committed to transparency, collaboration and keeping the community informed as the program progresses. This page will be updated as key milestones are reached.
